Abstract

This Study, which has the title  ( The imamate theory in Ibadi   political thought ),  presents the intellectual and political starting points of ibadi imamate theory and to indicate the extent of the contribution made by this theory in preserving the existence of the Ibadi and their continued survival until now . As a result, this required dividing this study into introduction, five sections and conclusion.  The first section is about the emergence of the Ibadi and the extent of their connection with the kharitijites . The second section shows the concept   of the imamate ,its necessity , as well as, the evidence for its obligation among the Ibadi  . The third section presents the conditions for the imam and the methods of appointing him. The fourth section is about the issue of deposing the imam and rebelling against him .  Finally, the fifth section presents the types of imamate “paths of religion" among the Ibadhiya . As a result, the study reached a set of findings and conclusions.
