Abstract

The water problem in Iraq includes a number of reasons, including what is internal represented by misuse and waste of water, and the increase in population numbers, including what is external related to the upstream countries (Turkey, Iran, Syria), and the water policies adopted by it that harmed the reality of Iraqi water resources, Therefore, the situation requires a review of governmental public policies to address the water problem, and work on approving comprehensive national policies with a future outlook, taking into account the development of Iraqi water resources, and securing national needs from them, as well as activating the diplomatic aspect in dealing with the riparian countries of the Tigris and Euphrates rivers, and finding a formula Shared with it, Iraq can preserve its water.
