Abstract

Since the dawn of history, religion has been a fundamental necessity in the life of human societies, as faith and work. The belief in the existence of supernatural forces beyond the rational nature of humans, and that these forces have an impact on the course of human life, on the one hand and performing certain duties, rites, and rituals imposed by heavenly and earthly religions, such as worshiping idols and fetishes on the other hand. The matter does not stop at this point, but the forms of religiosity, which sometimes distorts the contents of the first foundation of religion in one way or another, began to interfere in determining the nature of social relations, and then political ones, which were governed, essentially, by diversity, difference, and conflict, either in the direction which leads to the social placement of the absolute or the elevation of the social relative to the level of the absolute.
This perception and practice led Arab Marxists to criticize the political manifestations of religion, not from the standpoint of calling for atheism, but rather merely clashing with the political use of belief, when it justifies, through some forms of religiosity, the status of ranks and classes, and teaches the oppressed groups the morals of slaves, through urging them to submit and obey, which is essentially based on exploitation and persecution in the name of heaven.
